2011 Grammys...left me...umm...speachless

The Grammys bring in an interesting crowd.  Those musicians are all so "interesting" and "unique" because they are "artists".  Anyway, I couldn't find a single modest dress that was worth posting, so I decided to pick what I like to call: "Ummm....excuse me, but did you forget to look in the mirror before your left."

(All these photos come from INSTYLE magazine, which has quite useful fashion info.)

Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine

 Nicki Minaj

Rihanna

Seriously people....you actually wore these in public??  Sadly this was not all of them.  I could do a dozen posts on the crazies in Hollywood.

bravo!

What a pop-star that believes in modesty?  Incredible!

Jonna Christensen is a Finnish Pop-Star who celebrates the value of modesty in our lives.
Momon Times quoted her saying, “I used to think I enjoyed the attention that you get when you're dressed in revealing clothes, but, like I say in my song, it did not fill up the hole I had inside of me," she said. "I wasn't really looking for that kind of attention, I was looking for love. And I have experienced in my life that it is very rare to find love where lust is."  Read the full story HERE.

Ok...so she lives on the other side of the world...but influencing people none-the-less.  Bravo!

golden globe modesty?

Award show season is upon us.  As I watch the red carpet, I love to see the beautiful gowns.  Gowns that cost more than my house, but beautiful none-the-less.  I always take special note of those that wear dresses that don't bare all.  Is there such a thing?  Last year I found two so-so dresses from the 2011 Emmys.

And now for the 2011 Golden Globes....Drum roll please....

Angelina Jolie

Sparkling Emerald Green - Atelier Versace

Only someone with a tall, lean body like Angelina's could pull this dress off properly. My short and stubby 5'2" frame could never handle such a dress, but I think she looks lovely.  And as E! Fashion Police so eloquently put it, "Angie's worn this style plenty of times—though this one has a more vintage feel—but she always owns it, like she's a wicked queen ruling the red carpet"

Scarlett Johansson
Elie Saab dress

While this dress has a plunging neckline, it is more modest than most on the red carpet.  As Elle magazine noticed, it had "just the right amount of romance".

Did you find any others?

While these get a thumbs up for modesty, they get a thumbs down for "ick" factor. Emma Stone, Leighton Meester

modesty at the emmys

Hollywood kinda has an aversion to modesty. So I am always on the lookout for modesty on the red carpet. The Emmys were Sunday night and to my surprise there were a couple of dresses that showed less skin than the norm.

Tina Fey - in Oscar de la Renta

Anna Paquin - in Alexander McQueen

What do you think?
